VISION

The Master of Linguistics study program is to become an excellent research-based study program in general and applied linguistics in South East Asia in 2025.

 

MISSION

  1. Producing excellent and competitive graduates in general and applied linguistics.
  2. Conducting quality research-based teaching both nationally and internationally in general and applied linguistics
  3. Conducting professional research and scientific publications as well as to contribute to scientific development in the domains of language and culture.
  4. Conducting research-based community services implemented by the lecturers and students in general and applied linguistics.
  5. Increasing professionalism, capability, accountability in governance, and autonomy in running the study program.

 

OBJECTIVE

The Master of Linguistics study program’s objectives are to produce graduates who:

  1. Are excellent and competitive in the general and applied linguistics.
  2. Competent as language consultant.
  3. Language practitioner (e.g., translator, editor, proofreader)
  4. Manager of language institutions.
  5. Researcher in language and culture.
  6. Linguistic academia, (e.g., language tutor, teacher, and lecturer)

To support the graduate objectives, the Master of Linguistics program provides academic skills which comprise

  1. Development of language teaching learning model by synthesizing theoretical and applied linguistics quantitatively and qualitatively
  2. Development of language curriculum based on adequate needs analysis
  3. Development of descriptive/theoretical linguistics regarding language structure
  4. Development of macro linguistics and interdisciplinary linguistics, by using recent and relevant theories and methods.
  5. The Master of Linguistics also provides supporting skills as follows: statistics, ethnography of communication, academic writing skill, and English for Specific Purposes
