Semarang—Master Program in Linguistics Universitas Diponegoro for the second time in 2024 conducted Visiting Lecturer. The event held on Friday, 2 May 2024 by online through Zoom Meeting. The Dean of Faculty of Humanities Undip, Prof. Dr. Alamsyah, M.Hum. delivered opening specch session. The Visiting Lecturer presented theme “Recent Issues in Forensic Linguistics” which explained by Dr. Mathew Gillings as a keynote speaker. The event hosted by one of Linguistics-Undip’s lecturer, it’s Prihantoro, Ph. D.
The event was joined by many elements of public society, such as college students, lecturers, academicians, and etc. Dr. Gillings explained recent research issues in forensic linguistics which can be determined by corpus linguistics approach. As an expert of corpus linguistics, he also discussed how do we detect deceptions through corpus. By the event, we was hoped that all of the participants having great understanding about the relevance between forensic linguistics and corpus linguitics and be aware to detect and recognize deception forms using corpus.
